I am so glad you’re here and I’m so excited to see what you create for me!! When doing nominations this time around, it felt like sitting at a buffet and just filling my plate with everything I could think of.

Please don’t feel a need to follow any of my prompts or shove all of my likes into a fic as I know the list is pretty long. In fact, most sections of this letter are long by design to try and give you as many ideas for feeding into a fic. Feel free to pick and choose whatever works best for you!

I need, need, NEED more Hohsalle content in my life. He is the most beautiful, most intelligent mans I have seen in a while and he has captured my whole heart. I love the little glimpses we get to see into his humorous, snarky side. He’s authoritative, too, which doesn’t hurt! I was really hoping he would have an opportunity to connect with Van more, so those interactions are very welcome.

I learned that the author (who wrote the book the movie is based off) is a professor of ethnology (study of everyday people). After rewatching the movie again, I noticed that influence more, particularly in the difference between Aquafaese and Zolian cultures. I think the imperialist/war side of the plot is interesting but hard personally for me to write well. The relationship between Aquafa and Zol is so bloodied, but who doesn’t love political intrigue?!

Gotta be honest that I liked the ending but I was wanting more! Van told Hohsalle he wanted to see Yuna grew up, but then put himself in a position where he couldn’t. (Not easily, anyway.) Canon divergence at any point is welcome. Give them a better ending!

Another thing I hadn’t considered until a rewatch is the countries’ reliances on medicine versus gods to heal their ailments and how the mittsual is considered a “curse” vs a “disease.” There’s this divide between magic/divinity and irl medicine that I wish had been explored more. I was particularly peeved that Hohsalle never seemed that interested in Van’s spiritual journey or relationship with ossam. The biggest thing we get is this line: “I've seen so many die because of the mittsual. Inside of this man, I wonder what face it's chosen to wear now.” But I don’t feel like he really followed through with discovering an answer.

Anyway, witnessing Hohsalle work and discover new things about how the world or mittsual work would be fun, or even him developing his relationship with Yuna, Van, etc. I especially enjoy moments where he’s a little pathetic, like the fight with the stilt-walkers where he got shoved in the mud a lot. It’s fun to see the duality of his more composed self then him fighting for his life out in the wild.

This manga is such a raw, genuine depiction of what it’s like to be discriminated against just because of who you are or who you love. I’m particularly a sucker for found family and the way the characters at the Drop-In Center support each other. I love all of the characters. I love the support they show each other and their community despite everything working against them at times and the ending especially was a gut punch for me.

I would love more exploration into any of my requested characters. Feel free to include others, too! I am not averse to exploring more of Kaname and Tsubaki’s romantic relationship, including all the highs and lows they’d experience with their own personal struggles with their identities (and how other people would treat them if they ever found out they were together).

Anonymous-san is also of huge interest to me. How does she feel about the Drop-In Center? What was it like when she first established it? Is she magic? How many kids has she saved in the past? It feels like she really has a desire to help people like herself who desire community and support from people who have gone through similar struggles. Totally side note, but I’ve read the published manga that calls her “Someone-san” so I’m also more than comfortable with her being referred to that way. (The manga also uses she/her iirc but I would LOVE a genderfluid Someone-san!)

When the manga hit us with Ilya Tchaiko and Seichirou Agawa’s story at the end, it left so many questions burning in the back of my mind. Mainly, “Ugh, why couldn’t I have known more about them before it was already too late and now I’m bawling all over the place?” I wanted more time with these characters and wanted to enjoy their love for each other much longer, especially getting to see the thirty years they spent together (and perhaps what role Anonymous-san had in that relationship). Having a fic that celebrated that would be so special to me!

I came to the fandom late but I came into it for Hat Guy. I am in absolute love over his character. The way he started out as an ignorant puppet who slowly fell in love with humans only to feel that he had been betrayed by them… the way he feels so much but tries to shove all those feelings down. He’s more human than some real people I know and it’s fascinating to see that element of his personality come out. I feel like I’ve analyzed him to the moon and back, picked at all these different parts of him and, at times, just sat there on my bed and giggled and swung my legs back and forth!! I love all of him, from his kabu-chan era to his harbinger era.

Nahida & Scaramouche

THE LAYERS!!! The way Nahida’s people abandoned her and Scara abandoned his people. How she forgave them but he didn’t. How they both handled their solitude and decided to become different people at the end of it. I could go on and on about how they are foils for each other but you get it. I see Nahida either as Scara’s mother figure or his friend and I would love to see how that relationship blossoms. I think Scara still has things he could teach Nahida. It isn’t just her teaching him how to grow past his traumas and play well with others, but him teaching her the same. How to assimilate into human society and make friends, starting with each other!

Scaramouche/Xiao | Alatus (Genshin Impact)

Once I started learning more about Xiao, I started connecting dots between him and Scara and then found that I couldn’t stop. Wouldn’t it be interesting if the yaksha who thinks he doesn’t feel anything and the amnesia-addled wanderer who feels too much taught each other some things about their emotions? What if Xiao fell in love with that puppet, then that puppet went off and got his memories back? Or what if Xiao met that puppet when he was a bloodthirsty harbinger, or waaay farther back, before Scara even had his first name? What if Scaramouche met Xiao before he was enslaved by a certain god? There’s so much potential for canon divergence!!

I want to see them fall in love across universes. Have you heard of the infamous “This Is How You Lose the Time War”? Yeah, kind of like that. (Book spoilers ahead) Two people on opposing sides traveling up and down the thread of time encountering each other over and over again, leaving letters behind, finding new ways to fall in love and appreciate the enemy in ways neither could expect.

Modern AUs would be so much fun, too. (pls check Original Work prompts!!) I’m at that point with this pairing where even the most banal coffeeship AU could be interesting because it’s them. What is your Xiao like? How does he fall in love with Scaramouche or vice versa? I would be more than chuffed to see your answer.

I mean. It almost writes itself, doesn’t it!! Enemies to lovers (or enemies to fuckbuddies to lovers), sensual stabbings, and more!!! Blade is so many layers of unhinged and I’m so interested to learn more about him and his shared history with Dan Heng. Did they fight before, too, even though technically the Stellaron Hunters haven’t been out to hurt anyone but to direct the future to a more favorable outcome. I could go on a whole other separate rant about how the Stellaron Hunters are intentionally painting themselves out to be bad guys to lure our protags toward the source of the real conflict!!! And that maybe Kafka, Blade, and the others are more morally grey than we think because they want to preserve the universe or something!! Which would also beg the question, is Bladie really our enemy? (Well, okay, obviously he’s done some bad shit but c’mon!!!) How might they get prolonged time together against a shared enemy? How would they meet in alternate timelines or AUs and how would their relationship unravel then?

My favorite thing about this pairing is the aesthetic, especially after Dan Heng has his little magical boy transformation and gains even more power. And since Blade’s whole thing is sacrificing his health for power, it’s rife for angst with injuries and near-death experiences, haha!

Luocha & Sushang (Honkai: Star Rail)

(Cue me screaming in the background HOW CUTE AHHHHHH)

I fell absolutely heaf-over-heels in love with this friendship the second I saw it. I absolutely love Sushang as a character because she reminds me a lot of myself when I was younger. The try-hard sort who wants to please everyone else and ends up burning herself out in the process. The one who still manages to look a bit like a fuck-up when she’s putting her 110% into everything. It’s normal to make mistakes when you’re a rookie and she strides right through all of Luocha’s little nitpicks about her. One I distinctly remember was an interaction that went sort of like, Luocha: “And how long have you been on the Xianzhou?” Sushang: “I was born here!”

It’s kind of like that meme that goes, “Aren’t you tired of being nice? Don’t you want to go apeshit?” and I just want to ask Sushang that!! I can imagine a few ways in which Luocha and Sushang might have to work together long-term. Perhaps a siege or lockdown happens on the Luofu and they’re stuck together to escape. Or Sushang is sent on a mission with Luocha’s merchant experience as an important resource of information. Or it could simply be that they crossed paths somewhere else, like the Star Rail.

I think it would be so fun and satisfying to see Sushang finally stand up to Luocha’s little nitpicks or even the complete opposite and ease into them to the point where it’s just friendly banter between them that doesn’t bother her in the slightest and Luocha gets a deeper appreciation of her. I think Luocha possibly appreciates Sushang’s presence more than he lets on because she has this genuine absence of a filter. She says what she’s thinking and she isn’t guarded around him, and in turn, he feels more like he can be himself around her. (Cue one of those late-night sits around a campfire where they talk about their pasts and bond together!! (I don’t mean literally unless you really want to, haha!) (This is actually making me wonder if Sushang has ever seen a forest before and what we can do to put them in an actual forest together))

Jing Yuan/Yanqing (Honkai: Star Rail)

Aged up or not is fine for me either way.

Yanqing sounds like such the high achiever, especially for being a leiutenant already at… whatever age he is 😄 I feel pride for him and the fact that Jing Yuan was the teacher who had trained him up to be as capable as he is now. They obviously spent a lot of time together to make that happen! What other things might they have learned in that time? I would love for Yanqing to speak his master’s name with a little reverence or pride just to say, “Yep, I’m his star pupil!” I think that’s very cute and brag-worthy tbh.

Give me sensual sword training! Romantic stabbings, anyone?? Secret missions that you can only bring your right-hand man to?? Fancy masquerades or anything in that realm that might give them the excuse to dress up in fancy outfits where Yanqing has to hold back from devouring the appetizers in five seconds? Or even just regular, day-to-day operations and seeing how their roles intersect together.

I’m drooling over the thought of unflappable Jing Yuan being able to keep a straight face through everything and Yanqing being the one to fall apart first. Jing Yuan would be the sort to lavish Yanqing with praises of how well he’s doing and that would only fuel Yanqing to try even harder to please him. Is Yanqing frustrated that nothing he ever does seems to surprise him? Does he go out of his way to show up in cute outfits or do things out in public to try and break Jing Yuan’s composure? I am absolutely in love with this music video. The music, the characters, the little plot… it’s all so fantastical and fun. The fact that the main protagonist is a cute blue alien meant I fell fast and hard. Anything involving Strive will put the biggest smile on my face. His enthusiasm, his big smiles, his floofy hair!!! Ugh, I am in love!!!

I have a lot of questions about how their worldbuilding works because we were given so little that it opens up such a large can of worms.

Worldbuilding ideas:

— Culture: What do they eat? Do they have any seasonal traditions or customs? (Me being me, what about courting rituals?) What are Strive’s people’s beliefs/faith, if they have any? Any social nuances that could land you in hot water if you say the wrong thing or make the wrong gesture?

— Geography: How large is this planet? Does it rain? Is it more of a tundra situation, or are there grasslands/forests in other places? What are their crops? What’s the population of Strive’s hometown and are they the only people on this planet, or do they have trade routes with other groups? Does tourism exist?

— Biology: They bleed purple blood, as evidenced by Strive’s one injury. What’s up with that? Why are their ears so floof? Why is their skin blue, with some characters having two-toned skin (two shades of blue, one lighter)? Do they age like humans, or do they have a Yoda situation where it takes a long time to age?

— Magic: It looks like a lot of people have gemstones in their chests. Is it some sort of custom to get one then, as we saw Strive do as a child? Are these gemstones somehow connected to the fading light that was recovered?

— Misc.: How did these people survive on this desolate land? Maybe some creative thinking was at play there. What other races are there in the universe? Is there sunlight here or only the aurora borealis-eqsue lights?

Shipping:

I would like something that gives Strive a love interest, but I'm not interested in any of the canon characters, so I’d like if you used an OC. Maybe it’s someone from Strive’s home planet? Or does Strive meet someone new while out on his travels? I would give you so many bonus points if this love interest were cute, charismatic, or masculine. Could be nonbinary, male, etc.

I will admit, I haven’t gotten to play this game yet (Cries in macbook). But I DO know that I’m continually crushing over Wakuu every time I see him in the game on streams I have watched. I absolutely LOVE the vibes of this game and cannot wait to play it for myself one day. It exudes this wonderful feeling of being accepted into a community and making connections with plenty of unique and kind characters. The protagonist in this case is essentially an OC whom you could make however you want and I will always love a character who has a strong moral compass and charisma that attracts people to them. I acknowledge that the relationship didn’t explicitly say “Play Character,” however, so of course you could also write a legitimate original character who has nothing to do with the plot of the game and is just another resident of Starlet Town.

I peeked at Waaku’s summer outfit and he— he dyed his hair? Is this man trying to kill me? He looks like the sort of person who doesn’t realize how hot they are but the rest of the island sure knows. I want to see dates up in the lighthouse. Or hunting for crabs on the beach. Stargazing is an absolute necessity given he is an astrophysicist (or astronomer). How do they get together? What is he like in a relationship? How good is his pool game? What do the others think of him and who are his friends?

If something were to, say, happen to the OC, how would Wakuu react and could he be brave in a situation where he needs to help them out? If he were invited to go diving with them, for example, or mining, would he take them up on it? I feel like there’s so much untapped potential in this universe for them to explore the island together.

I also picked Wakuu/Original Nonbinary Character because AUGH that’s my shit!!! I particularly like an OC who is androgynous-looking or more masculine leaning but feel free to go whatever direction you wish if you choose to go this route. I think there’s so much potential to explore a character’s gender identity or get to experience their genuine self with someone who appreciates it. Maybe Waaku is the one who starts out with a huge crush on the hot enby! Everyone can learn a little about themselves and there’s that representation that can be so fun to explore and write beyond the gender binary. (I would be so curious to see how Starlet Town would react, too!)

Persona 5

Akechi Goro/Persona 5 Protagonist

Don't even talk to me until I've had my Akechi Goro!!! I LOVE THIS DUDE!!! When you talk to him and hear that "Rank Up!!" sound and return to the game only for him to say, "I hate you"— I was DYING!! Achievement unlocked, Akechi hates you. The extra material we got in Persona Royal solidified a lot of people's love for him but I already adored him plenty before that. I always love a character who is a little pathetic-coded, and when he ate the "bad" takoyaki, I thought, "Yes, this is the character for me." He has that glorious balance of stupid shit happening to him but also his own serious motives for his actions in the game.

This seems to be a theme in Persona games of balancing the serious with a sprinkle of ridiculous moments. Putting serious characters like Akechi in the positon of clown is really interesting because you really see that he’s in this universe with everyone else. He’s still as fallible and still has his goofy moments.

What are your thoughts on the Akechi we see in Persona Royal, the one in his "black mask"? I have this feeling that every attempt to get close to him to lavish him in affection would result in someone getting beat up. His behavior in that arc felt a little strange to me because I wondered if that was truly how he felt or if he was overacting, perhaps, to play a part in the story. I would love to see a balance of the Akechi Goro we first met with this “true side” of him. I felt like I lost some of that deeper part of his personality that he had before and that he’d been reduced more to a people hater than the analytical detective he had been before.

I would LOVE to see the protagonist have more genuine interactions with Akechi and learn what sort of person he really is when his mind isn’t constantly occupied with the Phantom Thieves. What would Akechi be like on a normal investigation? What does the world look like through his eyes? What was his childhood like, and how did that make him who he is today? I love introspective bullshit and feel like Akechi has gotten away with being emotionally constipated for too long. It’s time for a psyop!

I imagine it’s been a few rough months or even years or the same old routine. The uninspired pianist is getting sick and tired of it and he’s thinking of quitting it all. Maybe he has all the fame and stability one could ask for in such a cutthroat industry as his, and yet, he’s not happy with any of it. Was he perhaps a prodigy from a young age? Someone whose mom made him do it ever since he was young so he never had a chance to truly enjoy it when it feels like a chore? Whatever it is, the piano doesn’t spark joy for him. My friend is the one who gave me the idea that the uninspired pianist encounters a piano at an airport while he’s between flights to a performance in a different country. He decides to sit and play for a while, and in doing so, the hot male violinist shows up and plays a song with him. It’s in that moment afterward, when the male violinist is realizing he has a plane to catch and hurries to pack up his things, that the pianist realizes, holy shit, I need to play with him again. But before he can even say that, the hot violinist is already gone.

You don’t have to go with that plot if there’s a different way you think they should meet, but I did find it interesting for a few reasons. One, it’s sort of like the prince searching for his Cinderella while she’s running away!! And two, what if they didn’t have a language in common? It could be interesting if the uninspired pianist finds a flyer for the hot violinist online and realizes he’s from whatever country and nooow the uninspired pianist wants to take language classes.

How would the pianist get back in contact (or contact for the first time)? Is the hot violinist about it or not interested? Can the pianist prove to him that he’s worth his time (and maybe ironically ends up being a nightmare to work with, but they end up falling in love over the course of their rehearsals together anyway)? Much to consider!

Nonbinary Twitch Streamer/Famous Actor Boyfriend Who Unveils Their Relationship On-Stream (OW)

How does it happen? Does the famous actor boyfriend just poke his head in one day and the chat explodes? Or was it planned from the beginning that they would make some official-ish announcement to the Twitch streamer’s audience? Do they live together so it was more of an accident? I think it would be so cute if it turns out that they’d been dating for a year or something and are conveniently celebrating an anniversary when the streamer decides to tell their audience about their partner. The famous actor boyfriend could have any personality but I think it’d be the cutest if he’s he’s actually really into PDA and his enby partner gets flustered easily by it!! Imagine him walking into the room, cool as a coolcumber, and sitting in the streamer’s lap, ahh!! Or maybe the streamer even goes along with it and tries their best to pretend they aren’t even there.

Revealing their relationship to the larger public definitely comes with its consequences and both characters are already popular in their own rights. (Or about to become very popular if the nonbinary Twitch streamer hasn’t blown up with subscribers yet, haha!) Are they prepared to answer questions about their relationship? When people ask how they met, how do they respond? (Are one of them the sort to dodge the question and give different wrong answers every time?) It would be interesting to imagine them out in public trying to live their lives once the information broke and suddenly there’s far less breathing room for them. But at least they don’t have to keep the relationship secret anymore!

Sick Fanfic Author/Her Female Rival Who Mails Her Half a Blister Pack of Medicine (F/F) (OW)

If you know, you know. For those who don’t, though, I can’t find the tumblr post but there was once a person in real life who was fic rivals with another girl. “If she updated a fic, I had to post, too.” They write the same pairing and comment on each other’s works. Though they both write in different styles, they both admire the other girl’s work and reading the other’s work creates a sort of feedback loop where she wants to improve to best the other. And so it goes, one new fic, more fire to one-up it.

But around the holidays, the sick fanfic author predictably… falls sick. And the female rival only figures it out by sending her an anonymous ask on one of her social medias. The sick fanfic author replies, the female rival starts to worry, and she discovers that all the shops closest to her that carry medicine are out. So, she mails the sick fanfic author the last of her blister pack of medicine with an address the sick fanfic author provided (probably as a PO box) on her social media of choice.

What happens after the sick fanfic author recovers? Did the blister pack come with any sort of indication of who sent it? What if the sick fanfic author recognized who just from the handwriting or something small that it must have been her rival? Is there ✨tension ✨? Do they live close enough to meet in person someday? How fun would it be if they wrote each other’s AUs and gifted each other fics on their birthdays, did collabs together, became beta readers, etc. etc.? It has so much potential to be cute!!
