Starlight Brigade Witch Hat Atelier Howl's Moving Castle Shadow of the Colossus Pokémon (All Media Types) Dragon Quest XI The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity (Uncategorized Fandom) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Video Game) Dear worldbuilder,
First off, thank you so much for embarking on writing something for me! I am very relieved you made it to me because for some reason, with this exchange, I had built it up in my mind that it would be hard to end up paired with someone. But here we are. <3
This letter might be my largest yet. Please bear with me when navigating it, as I made an effort to make it readable but one can only do so much, and I want to provide you with some inspo/prompts for whatever the matched fandom is.
**Non-traditional formats like research papers/analysis/essays, epistolary fic, interviews, documentaries, etc. are welcome. The main thing that will draw me into your story are the characters and prose. I love literary devices like metaphors, symbolism, or imagery. The little details in a fic sell me the most. In non-traditional pieces, that could mean attaching photos, graphs, fancy scripts or footnotes, anything that you want to add.
At the end of the day, if you enjoyed what you wrote, that is what matters most to me.
I truly feel that when a person enjoys what they’re writing, it shines through in their fic. I have a lot of ideas of what I will like and I’m pretty easy to please.
Again, thank you, and good luck!

Starlight Brigade
Requesting: Any or No Characters, OC(s), Strive
General likes: Altogether, Strive’s universe is an amazing mixture of sci-fi and fantasy elements and I’m really curious to see how those blend together. I love how the song has one cohesive plot but leaves enough for more stories to emerge from that. You can expand upon the (fandom-named, I think) world of Moebius or resort to more intergalactic adventures with the rest of the Starlight Brigade.
Alien anatomy: What makes Strive and the other Moebian's bodies different from humans? What do those gemstones in the center do?
— NSFW: What kind of equipment does Strive have? Is it the same old human stuff or is there something more alien about it, such as him being intersex, having a higher/lower sex drive, being able to have multiple orgasms/having a short recovery period, etc.? Do these organ(s) self-lubricate, menstruate, or give off a scent?
Culture/Geography/Biology of Moebians:
— Culture: What do they eat? Do they have any seasonal traditions or customs? (Me being me, what about courting rituals?) What are Strive’s people’s beliefs/faith, if they have any? Any social nuances that could land you in hot water if you say the wrong thing or make the wrong gesture?
— Geography: How large is this planet? Does it rain? Is it more of a tundra situation, or are there grasslands/forests in other places? What’s the population of Strive’s hometown and are they the only people on this planet, or do they have trade routes with other groups? Does tourism exist?
— Biology: They bleed purple blood, as evidenced by Strive’s one injury. What’s up with that? Why are their ears so floof? Why is their skin blue, with some characters having two-toned skin (two shades of blue, one lighter)? Do they age like humans, or do they have a Yoda situation where it takes a long time to age?
— Misc.: How did these people survive on this desolate land? Maybe some creative thinking was at play there. What other races are there in the universe? Is there sunlight here or only the aurora borealis-eqsue lights?
Hookup and dating culture: Does
not have to be Strive and an OC. You could also write research-like notes or observations about the culture. (But answers to the following questions by showing some shipping is ofc encouraged.
— What do you call your partner in their universe?
— What is their culture’s idea of a perfect date?
— Is this culture monogamous, polyamorous, or something else/a mix?
— How do you flirt with someone from Strive’s planet? What’s considered a cute compliment?
Also overlaps somewhat with alien anatomy.
I want to know how someone would not only woo this blue alien, but make love to him, too. We don’t really know Strive’s gender outside of him using he/him pronouns, so who’s not to say there’s a colony of androgynous or nonbinary aliens living their best lives?
Does Strive even know how to have sex or is that not something his culture talks about?
Magic: It looks like a lot of people have gemstones in their chests. Is it some sort of custom to get one then, as we saw Strive do as a child? Are these gemstones somehow connected to the fading light that was recovered?
Space and space crews:What is it like for Strive as a crewmember on the Starlight Brigade? Does he fit in well with the other members? What is his favorite aspect of it, and the least favorite? I would love to see it from a logistical perspective too, or Strive's typical day on board. Feel free to include as many sciency details as possible about the function of the ship and specific details of missions and space exploration.
Witch Hat Atelier
Requesting: Agott, Any or no Characters, Coco, Olruggio, OC(s), Qifrey, Tetia
General likes: I am obsessed with this fandom. I think Qifrey is the hottest thing since the pizza I had for dinner, and I adore Coco's growing friendship with the other girls. Olruggio/Qifrey is
fantastic childhood friends to lovers, which I adore. No matter who the characters, the premise of the
wonder of magic and imagination as a driving factor is fantastic. I think there's so much chilkdlike wonder in that, which makes me very happy. I love seeing characters like Olruggio still creating and doing new things with magic.
Contraptions used in Everyday life: We saw a bit of this with Coco at the beginning but I would love to see more. I wonder how dramatically different a normal person living in that universe is compared to ours. What little things might we overlook? How many of Olruggio's contraptions do we see in everyday life, aside other well-known witches?
Creation/Existence of The Great Hall: I just think it's cool. I wonder who thought it would be a good idea to put it underwater. Granted it's a wise decision, but still. Maybe the witch in question really liked water? How much of a pain was it to make it?
Disability and Accessibility: We have seen at least two contraptions to help those who can't walk, but what other tools and resources are there? Tartah found a spell that could help him identify plants without needing to see color. What other things might be useful?
Exploring Forbidden Magic before the Pact: What was healing magic like? In what ways could it pose a danger to people and can you provide an example? Where was the turning point where witches decided to create a pact and end forbidden magic forever? Was there an inciting incident that caused it?
The Day in The Life of an Apprentice in the Great Hall: Either from the perspective of an OC or someone from the story— anybody will do. But I have the most interest in Agott, Qifrey, or Olruggio. I would absolutely love a pre-canon fic of Qifrey arriving in the Great Hall. What are his thoughts? How badly does he hate it there? (Especially given it's underwater. I would adore a Qifrey rant about hating being underwater while Olruggio listens.)
Howl’s Moving Castle
Requesting: Any or No Characters, Howl Pendragon, Markl, OC(s), Original Character(s), Sophie Hatter
General likes: I love Howl with a passion that burns just as brightly as Calcifer. Of all Studio Ghibli movies, this one is my favorite. My favorite parts of the movie are Sophie watching child Howl capture Calcifer and that time Sophie woke in the middle of the night and visited Howl in the cave stuffed with trinkets. (A gif of that scene is here, accompanied by the song “Cave of Mind.”) My other favorite scenes were those of mystery, action, and dramaticism. (Explains why I like Howl so much, huh?) I love scenes where you think, “this can’t possibly get any worse!” And then it does.
Demons: When watching Howl capture Calcifer out in that flower field at night, I wondered, "is that really what a demon looks like?" They look so cool! Like little stick people, or something you'd find on an ancient hieroglyph. People in their universe are afraid of demons, but I'm not sure we ever really see any bad ones, unless the Witch of the Waste's henchmen count. I'd love to see more exploration of other demons beside Calcifer. (Does Calcifer have any friends?)
How to become a Wizard or Witch: Pre-canon Howl training how to become a wizard would be my favorite thing. But really anybody is fine. Is there a training manual for how to train a wizard or witch, or does it depend on a tutor? What was Howl's tutor like?
Magic Spells and Procedures: What does it take to cast a spell? Do you need certain components or are you just able to cast it whenever? Does it depend? Do you need a spellbook? Howl removed a sigil from his desk once and that required just his palm. How powerful is Howl, really? And does that affect how much magic he can cast (and how easily?)
Magical Creatures: This overlaps slightly with demons but I am also interested in other cursed people or objects like Turnip Head. In the books, I've heard Sophie can create living things by… talking life into them? Something like that. What would that look like in the movie? Did she talk life into Turnip Head?
Shadow of the Colossus
Requesting: Agro, Any or No Characters, Mono, OC(s), Wander
General likes: The overall vibe of the video game is wonderful, and I appreciate the mystery of Wander and Mono's relationship. (Spoilers: I like it shippy, but platonic or siblings/sibling-like are fine, too.) I am interested in seeing pre-canon of what leads up to the events of the game. But there are probably more answers to be revealed by Mono post-canon if you wished.
Creation/Origin of Dormin: Who are they? Why are they sealed away by the colossi, and why does it look like the Forbidden Lands were once a place that civilization existed?
Exploring Culture of Mono's and Wander's Past Home: All we know is that the Shaman wears a mask over his face and they have markings on their clothing. I would like to see whether they live in a village, with huts, or tents, or whatever. What are the people like there? What is daily life like? Do they have a god they pray to or what?
Hookup and Dating Culture: How do you show someone you like them? What is a nice compliment to give or receive? Are marriages arranged, or do you choose who you want to spend your life with? Is pre-marital sex allowed?
Magic: Is Dormin magical? How does the Ancient Sword work, alongside any other magical tools Wander finds?
Pokémon (All Media Types)
Requesting: Any or no characters, Bounsweet, Ho-Oh, Ditto, Cursola, OC(s), Zoroark
Endangered and dying out species: Which Pokémon would qualify, and is there a metric for determining what is endangered? How? What is being done to preserve these Pokémon, if anything? If a trainer catches one (assuming they are allowed to catch and own one without it being illegal), is it a point of bragging or looked down upon?
Pokémon edible to humans: What Pokémon are considered cultural delicacies, and what Pokémon is the equivalent of fruit cake that you would feed to someone you hate? Are there any Pokémon you have to prepare carefully, so as to not accidentally poison somebody? Which ones taste the best? I'm curious to know how culturally acceptable it is to eat Pokémon and if there are any people who are staunchly against it.
Pokémon training as an expected cultural tradition: I think getting to see this develop over the years could be interesting. With Pokémon Arceus coming out soon, we see that Pokémon training has not always been a thing but developed over time. I'd like to see that development or that expectation of a child to make something of themselves by becoming a trainer. (And what it looks like for people to fall out of it as they age or make it a profession. It must feel pretty sucky to be beaten by a 13-year-old.)
Dragon Quest XI
Requesting: Any or No Characters, Erik, Hendrik, Eleven/Luminary, Jasper, OC(s), Sylvando
Geography and cartography: It is quite possible I would cry literal tears if someone drew or re-worked the Erdrean map to make more sense. I would love to have some notes or analysis on how long it would reasonably take to travel from one point to another, such as from Heliodor to Cobblestone or Heliodor to Gallopolis, etc.
My main problem with the map is how linear it is compared to Dragon Quest 9. (And also how the area map/HUD map is different than the world map whereas in DQ 9 they are the same.) There are whole sections of the map that we cannot access, such as the area behind and to the east of Heliodor, northern Yggdrasil, and most mountain ranges. I would love a fic exploring new places in Heliodor (extra points for punny town names.)
Cobblestonian traditions: We know that when you become of age (16 in the game), you climb the Tor. But are there any other traditions, perhaps pulled from real-world cultures, that people in Cobblestone celebrate? What is life like in Cobblestone? Do they travel out of the village, or only stay inside?
International relationships and politics: Does trade exist? What are the relationships between all the kingdoms like? I feel like the game could have done a much better job on this part. Frysabel seems mostly absent from things until later in the game and the Sultan doesn't seem all that worried. A pre-canon, post-canon, or canon-divergent fic (Prince Eleven, hellooo!!) would be amazing. Especially if we get to explore these relationships in a very dramatized, high tension, high stakes sort of way.
Languages and Linguistics: Realistically, given that each kingdom is based on a different culture, each one should have its own language, too. A fic exploring each person's given language based on culture and trying to communicate across those boundaries would be awesome. I am also now realizing it would be hilarious if there were some DQ-specific turns of phrase created based off certain monsters or puns. Also, two words: Cockney dialect. All Dragon Quest games love their Cockney and I love seeing it. Honestly, a guide on its usage or recording of its use in-game would be great.
NPC perspective of game events: Of particular interest are people doing anything during and after the fall of the world tree, Eleven's horse race in Gallopolis, the dancing spell that overtook Phnom Nonh, and life in the Last Bastion. I can't actually think of any scene I wouldn't like to see written, however. I would also love to see what life is like in the girl's academy (pre-canon of Jade's mom or anybody, really, is welcome.)
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity (Uncategorized Fandom)
Requesting: Any or No Characters, Any Champion(s), OC(s), Daruk, Link, Mipha, Revali, Terrako, Urbosa, Zelda (Bolded is actually requested. The rest is the full list since I included "any characters" and thought having the list handy would help.)
General likes: I really enjoyed getting to see the Champions in all their glory, fighting and succeeding against Calamity Ganon. Again, I have a super soft spot for Link, and I love him most as a selectively or completely mute character. I surprised myself with how strongly I fell in love with Terrako, Mipha & Daruk, and Link & Zelda. (Also Zelda and Terrako. That backstory made me cry.)
Ancient technology: I wish we could have seen more from Purah's perspective about working with the ancient Sheikah slate technology and how it all connects. I want to know where Terrako came from and who might have first assembled it before Zelda re-assembled it. I also welcome any theories or thoughts about the Sheikah slate and other technologies!
Divine Beasts: Who the heck thought these things were a good idea? Because they were, but I'm still curious how they came to be in the first place. That, or I'd just like to see them hang out post-canon. I would have liked to see the Champions actually piloting them too instead of just standing on top of them, but we can't always get what we want.
Gerudo culture: I can only assume life is better without any men around, but I also have to assume that living in the middle of the desert presents a lot of challenges. How do the Gerudo handle those obstacles? How have they had to adapt, and what is their day-to-day life like?
Goron culture: Bless the Hylian knight who tries his best to join in on rock-eating, but I think he ought to leave it to the Gorons. They're a pretty rugged crew but still awesome for living in Death Mountain and all. I would love fic of Link vacationing there, or even something simpler about life in their village.
Lizalfos Society: There was some discussion about this in the discord server Exchanges-After-Dark a while ago, and while I don't want to rip off someone else's prompts, I, too, am intrigued by the concept of Lizalfos who not only create their own custom-fitting armor and weapons, but run a whole underground society somewhere. How else do they create tools that fit their needs so perfectly? Are there blacksmiths? Magic? Trading? I don't know. But I'm curious.
Rito culture: Of all the races(?) in BOTW/Age of Calamity, I know the least about the Rito. I think it's badass they fly and fire arrows, but other than that, I'd love to learn more about them. How birdlike are we really talking here? What does their diet consist of? Aren't the babies incredibly cute?
Zora culture: So many of the Zora recognized Link when he visited again in BOTW and it made me feel sad, given his amnesia and everything. I think it's really interesting how the Zora can live so long. They seem really friendly, but I wonder if they get out much or if the monsters keep them pretty secluded. What do the Zora even do for fun?
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Video Game)
Requesting: Any or No Characters, OC(s), Hylia, Link, Any Monk, Prince Sidon, Zelda
General likes: I love the atmosphere of BOTW and I have a soft spot for Link in particular. I do love me some selectively or completely mute Link who is still a quirky, reckless, sword-swinging prodigy. I'm still new to the Zelda games as a whole, and, um, still haven't beat one myself, but that doesn't stop me from appreciating their grand stories and admiring the interconnected cultures and characters that make BOTW a classic.
Ancient Sheikah Civilization: The monks are really the only sign we have of what ancient Shiekah civilization was like alongside the leftover pieces of technology, but I watched a video about Maz Koshia and found the relationship between the Yiga clan and Sheikah pretty interesting. The Sheikah are so mysterious! I would love to learn more! Either a day in the life sort of story, journal entries, or anything else you can come up with would be cool.
Food: What does monster meat taste like? Is Link a good cook? What sort of spices do they use, and are they readily available or hard to come by depending on where you are in Hyrule? Just like irl cultures, I would love to know what foods are staples to each area, from Daruk to Zora.
Religion: Hylia is the main goddess in the game, but I know (vaguely) that in other games, there have been the golden goddesses, each assigned to a different piece of the triforce. I'd like to see what sort of rituals or traditions people follow religion-wise. Is there a scripture, or is it less prominent in their lives that way?
Technology: Either exploring the ancient Sheikah technology or present-day Hyrule. How has it been developed to where it is today? How useful is it day-to-day? How is it continuing to develop in new or interesting ways, and is there a way to improve it?
Zora culture: So many of the Zora recognized Link when he visited again in BOTW and it made me feel sad, given his amnesia and everything. I think it's really interesting how the Zora can live so long. They seem really friendly, but I wonder if they get out much or if the monsters keep them pretty secluded. What do the Zora even do for fun?
Thank you for reading! ❤
